Online communities are becoming increasingly important. I launched @PhDForum on Twitter in 2012.
Since that time, more than 100,000 people have connected with this supportive, knowledgeable and dynamic higher education community. What began as a doctoral support group in preparation for my own PhD has grown into what Jack Groves at the Times Higher Education described in 2016, as “one of the world’s largest PhD-related groups”.
The evolution of the @PhDForum is organic. This website is a space to further share support, knowledge and friendship. In response to the COVID19 pandemic I opened an online study room, free to use and available 24/7. It has rapidly become integral to the study routines of students across the world.
