I have enjoyed a rewarding career in social work since 1985 and work as a critical social psychologist and social work academic. In addition I conduct independent and where necessary, confidential investigations and reviews for local authorities, police forces and charities. I am a HCPC registered social worker, council member of the British Association of Social Work and member of the British Psychological Society.
My doctoral research explored the experiences of prospective adoptive parents in 21st Century Britain. I have also had key roles in several child sexual abuse/exploitation research project, for example I was the Principal Investigator of the Rotherham CSE Needs Analysis study.
My research interests are situated within a critical social psychology paradigm and include: adoption, childhood sexual abuse and exploitation, parenting, familial relationships, social and familial policy, power relations, feminist theory, social protest, ethics, social media, qualitative methodologies, pluralism, dialogism, phenomenology and discourse analysis.
